합창이 변신을 하고 있다. ‘칸타타(Cantata)’에서 출발한 합창은 오늘 8월 15일, 합창교향시(Choral Symphonic Poem) ‘코리아판타지(Korea Fantasy)’, ‘부석사의 사계’는 합창교향곡(Choral Symphony)이란 명칭으로 초연된다. 모두가 탁계석 대본, 극본, 작사로 구성된 점에서 장르의 변화에 주목이 간다.

칸타타 ‘달의 춤(작곡:우효원)’은 2019년 3. 1절 기념 국립합창단의 위촉으로 ‘조국의 혼(작곡: 오병희)’과 함께 KBS 홀 무대에 올랐다. 올해는 광주민주화운동 40주년을 기념해 김인재 지휘자에 의해 광주시립합창단이 무대에 오른다.

‘코리아판타지’는 오병희 작곡으로 오는 8월 15일 국립합창단에 의해 예술의전당 무대에서 초연된다. 울산 암각화에 세겨진 고래잡이에서 영감을 얻어 7,000년 전 선사시대로부터 일제의 탄압을 그치며, 오늘의 영광된 코리아의 역사 과정을 상징과 이미지로 그려낸  큰 스케일의 작품이다.

합창교향곡 ‘부석사의 사계’는 인류문화유산에 등재된 부석사 사찰의 빼어난 풍광과 의상대사와 선묘의 이룰 수 없는 사랑을 아리아로 만들고 사계절의 아름다운 한국미의 절정을 그려내려고 했다.

서양에서는 18세기 중엽에 널리 확산된 칸타타 장르가 우리나라에는 해방 이후 김동진, 윤용하, 장일남 등 개척기의 작곡가들에 의해서 발표되었으나 대부분 초연에 그치는 상황을 맞고 말았다.

이후 세대들에게서도 칸타타가 드물게 작곡되었지만, 상설 레퍼토리로 정착하지 못했다. 이러다가 2012년 K-Classic 조직위원회가 발족하면서 본격적인 칸타타 작업이 이뤄졌다. 국내는 물론 해외에 서까지 발표 영역을 넓힌 것이다. 비로서 칸타타의 상설 레퍼토리가 가능해진 것이다. 따라서 앞으로 칸타타 장르의 개념 정리와 흐름을 한 눈에 볼 수 있게 DB(데이트 베이스)화가 필요하다.

In 2012, the K-Classic Organizing Committee was launched, and full-scale cantata work was completed. It expanded the scope of the announcement not only in Korea but also abroad. As a result, Cantata's permanent repertoire became possible.
